China: Soybean imports down 12% in March
China imported 3.51 million tons of soybean in March, down 12.44 percent year-on-year, at an average price of $592.96 per ton, according to the General Administration of Customs Thursday.
Of this, the US was the biggest source at 3.44 million tons, followed by Brazil and Canada.
The March figure pushed China's soybean imports during the first quarter to 10.96 million tons, a drop of 0.66 percent year-on-year.
Oil seed imports in March stood at 54,900 tons, down 542,900 tons on last year, all of which came from Canada. In the first quarter,a total of 179,300 tons of oil seed was imported, a drop of 49.94 percent year-on-year.
